I am trying to log and capture footage from a small HD Sony HDV Handycam. I am using a fire-wire cable. Every time I load log and capture, the log and capture screen has the message ‘No Communication’ at the bottom and has the preview disabled. I haven’t a clue what is wrong with it, do I need to do something with the settings? Please help….

Try using the Easy setup for HDV using the format that was shot… i.e. 1080i60?

Should be using sony’s HDV device control setting for sure.

    Hi Jerry,

I am having some serious problems with capturing using the Sony V1. Been trying different machines with FCP 5.0.4 & 5.1.4, different device control and different cables. The message underneath the capture preview window drops out saying “searching for media” every 10-20 seconds and if I capture now and stop capture, none of the clip has been captured. I have seen some talk of the V1 having such problems but can find no solid advice or knowledge.

If you have any ideas or leads on who to ask I’ll be greatly appreciative. This is really making some headaches on my timelines!

    Thanks, Nick
