  • Re-linking to R3D files – will effects remain?

I shot footage with a RED camera and am trying to find the best way to edit using Premiere. My computer only has firewire 800 connections so editing the RED files directly lags too much.

I’ve decided to convert the R3D files into another codec for editing – with the hopes of re-linking to the original R3D files later on toward the end of the editing process

a few questions about this –

Will the effects I add remain when i switch back to the R3D files???

What’s the best way to re-link using premiere – to all of the original files? – i really need a step by step for this…

Am i losing a lot of visual power if i convert to say ProResHQ and never return to the original R3D files? this is a feature film with hopes of theatrical screenings

Which codec do you recommend i convert to?

    Thanks for the help!
