I have some doc footage I shot, and some sound files recorded on a sound devices 633. I was in the midst of cutting the project and had some synced clips : camera files and matching recorded clips from the 633. At some point the 633 files stopped playing leaving me with only the camera scratch track which since it was a mix of 3 microphones is ok but not great because there are sections where I need to turn off some one or two of the mics in the mix.

I then sent the sound clips to the trash figuring something had gone wrong and i would just re import them and re link. Ok except for FCPx now won’t let me reimport the clips that i need with the error message saying that the file type is un supported. There are 2 other sound clips in the library that I did not sync up and those seem to be fine and I have the option of re importing those but that’s unnecessary.

I tried creating a new event in my project and importing the sound media into the new event, No Dice.

I tried creating a new library just to import the needed sound files and stilts same error message.

I thought something was wrong with my sound files perhaps some corruption so I grabbed a back up set off my LTO tape. Same problem importing the needed files from the back up. So now I am thinking that there is some issue inside FCP’s data base that is gumming up the works.

I ‘m not sure what else to try at this point and am very open to suggestions. Anyone have a similar experience and how was it resolved?

A bit of an up date- I still haven’t solved this problem detailed above that I need to solve. Following my previous post I tried:

Renaming the sound files that won’t import thinking that I could fool Final cut into thinking they were different files than I originally imported and that failed.

I opened FCPX on a different machine in a test project I have set up and could import the files in question . I just can’t re-import the files into the project where I need them…

When I try to import the files into the project where they are needed, the files show up in the import window list but when I click on a particular wave file, the audio waveform does not appear in the section window.

    I’m still stumped.

I’m still at an impasse with not being able to re import my audio files and now its getting to be crunch time–Anyone???
