    Hi All,

I own a budget MAC Resolve setup,I need help/suggestion from fellow members regarding calibration,I am using Dell U2410 as grading monitor.I know this is not the grading monitor,But my plan is to get at least 90% accurate.
    1. Can i calibrate the DELL Grading monitor with HDMI as input..?
    2. Will the calibrated profile apply to the LCD grading monitor while working in resolve [i have read in some other sites that only if the monitor is directly connected to graphics card, in my case i am connecting BMD + ]..?
    3. How to convert display profile to LUT.?
    4. Buying HD Link Pro will help me better..?

    Regards,
    Arjun

    1. You can calibrate any monitor, (as a matter of fact I am sure dell has some presets like rec709 or srgb, which should get you close enough) you can also characterize or profile it. What you are talking about is profiling. In order to profile anything for Resolve output a LUT must be produced. Research dispcalgui.
    2. LUT will affect both the preview window in gui and a monitor out output through a decklink card.
Do not use preview window in gui for color evaluation.
    3 Dispcalgui
    4. ? How else are you going to output to an external monitor?

    4. I have an HD LINK. If you get one and have a problem getting picture on your monitor. Unplug the power from the HD Link and plug it back in. I have to do that a lot.

How can you playback patches with resolve for dispcalgui?

You do not. The guy who writes the soft says that as long as it is connected via HDMI and you did not anything stupid with the gtx card LUTs you can connect your monitor and profile using the graphics card, produce Lut and use it in resolve after you reconnect your monitor through the decking or hdlink. Rationale is 0 = 0, 1=1

Then why use a video I/O card in the first place?

    That’s the $10,000 question….
