re-create P2 card
I want to playback from a screen from my panasonic P2 cards, the material I want to play back is old material so basically want to recreate the card with old material is this possible.
In other words make a new P2 card from old P2 material (the file structure still remains)

Raylight for Mac can make a P2 card from Quicktimes. https://dvfilmstore.com/raylight-for-mac.html
I’ve read of other apps that can also do this, but don’t recall the names. Try searching mxf on the Cow to find them.John

Ok fine, but I have already got the original P2 material so I do not need to convert it. All I want to do is place it back on the card (selected clips) and be able to play them back through the camera onto a monitor…

I’m assuming you have a means of getting the P2 files from the P2 card to your drive. We use a Duel Adaptor with a MBP. I’ve never tried this, but I suppose you can copy the files from your drive to a freshly formatted P2 card. Just make sure all the files are put on the card in the same order they were originally. Let us know if that works.

Yes you do. The P2 MXF structure is one that is all tied together. In order for it to work properly new metadata files must be written to reflect what your media is using (timecode, audio and video tracks, all kinds of other goodies,etc). You need a program to do this, or if you don’t care about those things, then you can somply record your timeline out to P2 through a camera or other device. Those resulting MXF files will not match back to your orig. MXF files in any way.

He’s saying he’s got the original file structure, not a captured file structure. That means you just copy to a formatted P2, I think.

thought I would update everyone, copying idividual files does not work. Whole cards neither there is some kind of playback aterfact very strange. So we did playback from a mac using FCP
