I just want to know if anyone has a good recipe for using compressor to down convert from 720 to DV then onto ipod or iphone for Youtube etc. I have tried a few things and want to know what you guys like.

Also if you are going to a DVD via 720 what do you do with field order, etc…..anything else that I didn’t mention?

    Curious.

Is there a reason you’d go from 720 to DV (first) and then to iPhone (second?)

Compressor does a decent job of downconverting (with it’s defaults – upconversion is a different deal); as you downconvert, deinterlacing gets handled well. You shouldn’t worry about field order – compressor does it right in this case.

I’d use the Apple DVD, iPhone and Youtube presets.

Are they perfect? Maybe, maybe not. But why not try them first with 30-60 sec of your footage to see what you think.
