Hi. I’m not even sure AE can help, so please forgive me if the question is not relevant to this forum. Basicaly, I have an avi movie of a plane that is landing and I want to change the coloring of the plane’s flaps in red. The problem if I use a mask is that the flap region changes as frames go by. How should I go about tackling this problem? Thanks!

If the plane’s flaps are a different colour to the rest of the plane already, then this tutorial on the COW might help:

Thanks. Unfortunately the flaps are the same color as the rest of the plane. I did manage to get to change the shape of masks as time goes by in the movie. Now I just need to change the color inside the mask. Any hints?

If you already have animated masks, then one way to do it would be to use a colour effect of some sort to affect the areas inside the masks.
If you only have a single layer, then dupe it, and delete the masks from the lower layer. If your masks are set up right, you should have a layer with just your flaps showing, above the full image. If you affect the masked layer, you should have it…?

Put a new color layer on top of the airplane. Cut the animated masks from the airplane layer and paste them into the color layer above.

Thanks Enzo. Your suggestions helped me solve the problem. My red flaps look awesome now!
