re: Blending modes
Hello!
I’m having trouble with my lens flares. They have been pre-composed and set to screen on my main composition. However when exported as swf, the black box reappears in my flash file.
I would like to know if it is possible to render out an after effects animation as a swf, but still retain the transparency in my lens flares?
Or maybe another way to create an effect like the lens flare where I don’t have to rely on blending modes?

Knoll Unmult, a free plugin will help.
Place the lens flares on a black solid and then apply UnMult to drop out the blacks, no need for blending modes.

Yeah, as Brian says, Unmult (or a similar effect) is good for turning black areas to transparency. This is good for creating items with an alpha channel for use in another application. But the blending modes are still a good (I’d say usually superior) way of compositing _within_ After Effects. It all depends on what you’re doing.
