Raylight for Mac is out, you can read about it and download a demo of it here https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac

In a nutshell it allows direct editing of MXF files in FCP, and allows you to view the MXF files in the Quicktime Player. If Raylight’s running in the background, within 10 seconds of connecting a P2 Card or hard drive to your system you can start editing.

I’d appreciate any feedback as it’s very 1.0

    Hi Marcus

I have made a post at your web’s forum. I have tried raylight on Mac OS 10.4.9 with qt 7.1.6 and everything seems to go fine but the media links appear without audio.

    Do you know what happens.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi. The demo version does not link the audio, and limits the clip length to 10 sec each.

Sorry, I see that you bought the release version.

You have to use the “Organize P2 option” on the Firestore. If not, then the audio files must be renamed xxxxx01.MXF, xxxxx02.MXF, etc. where the video clip name is xxxxxx.MXF

Also they must be separated into VIDEO and AUDIO folders inside a CONTENTS folder. It’s easier just to use the Organize P2 Option.

Raylight will not link with an audio file directly but only in combination with a video MXF file as described above. In the future we may have a Firestore option since this seems to be a common mistake.

Lastly if you want to reach us in a hurry don’t use the forums but go to DVFilm.com and click on Support.

Need to import or log and transfer MXF files from External hard Drive to my Final Cuts 5.01 program to editing the material.
I need to be able to view the Video and audio from the External hard drive in sync. from my Dell PC to be use to screen the shot material.
