“Raw” Motion Tracking?!
When choosing track type for motion tracking, there’s an option to track “Raw”.
According to After Effects user guide: “Raw tracks position only – use Raw to generate tracking data that you won’t apply using the Apply button.”
Ehm, ok…? Why not just use a regular “Transform”-tracker and use expressions to link whatever to it? Or, why not just copy paste the keyframes from a regular “Transform”-tracker to whatever?
Why does the “Raw” tracker exist, and how is it better than the “Transform”-tracker?

it’s sole purpose is for order’s sake – for the user to mark this tracker as “Raw” meaning he is not using it by applying it to null or the footage, but by copy pasting or expressions. think of it as a visibility aid and nothing more. the tracking information itself is exactly the same as “transform” or “stabilize”. it’s just disabling the option to do anything with it through the tracker panel itself.
essentially, all tracker types are “Raw” until you hit apply.
