    Hi!

I’m trying to set up a composition with a bunch of objects which will be positioned and rotated randomly. These objects will start motionless and be motionless most of the time, but certain times I want to have them all quickly change their position and rotation to a new random value, tweening between the old value and the new value, with easing a little bit of wiggle and bounce. The objects will then hold that position until the next time I choose to make a keyframe.

I’ve tried setting this up with wiggle expressions and nulls, but I can’t quite get it to work. Any suggestions?

Something like this? I’m not sure what you’re going for. But maybe this will help. You can tie the wiggle expression to some sliders (under Effect > Expression Controls). It’s not exactly easy to add bounce as well without some extra coding to merge the different expressions together (although I think there’s a script for merging expressions on aescripts). Anyway, this still looks like it bounces if you overshoot the end of the rotation you keyframe. I hope this helps. If not, send more information on what exactly it is you’re trying to do. Often, “why” is a good question to answer as well because it opens up the possibility for other solutions that you’re not thinking of when figuring out “how.” 🙂

    Here’s an example.
