  • Random issue with PRORES in PP CS6 on Windows 7. Very weird…

    Hello,

I have alexa PRORES files in 444. The quality is good but my computer can’t read it without lag so I decided to make proxy of these prores files. I am on Windows 7 64 and I use Cinec Gold 2 to make PRORES proxy in 422. The files seems to be ok, i can read them in quicktime BUT…

When I am in Premiere Pro, curious things happend. And i saw that it is only with theese prores 422 proxy files, not ones from the alexa.

1 : when I open my project, not all of the files work ! And are Media Pending (and stay like that). If I close and open again, maybe it works, maybe some others files are ‘media pending’.

2 : when I drag drop a file into my project, sometimes it works, but lot of times, it doesn’t… Just freezing. Like if the files have something broken in it and PP stay blocked. I have to kill the qt32 process and adobe PP…
Then i tried not to drag and drop but to import files from the Media Browser of PP, but some file appears, but lot of them just stay in ‘processing’.

So, for now, it seems that there is a probleme with the quicktime importer, but don’t know how to fix that. The main probleme is that it is difficult to precisly point my issue because, it’s a random problem. And tried to uninstall PP and quicktime, still the same…

    Tech stuf :
    – Sources files are prores 444 from alexa and converted in 422 ‘proxy’ preset from Cinec Gold 2. The resolution is the 2K 2048*1024

    – I am on Windows 7 64 – Intel core i5 2.67Ghz (4cpu) – 12 Gb RAM – Nvidia GEFORCE 9800 GT

    If someone can help me….

That suggests to me that the problem may lie on the encode side.

Rather than using ProRes 422 proxies, I’d suggest a different QuickTime format — maybe PhotoJPEG or DNxHD.

Hey Walter, thanks for the help.

I finaly found the solution ! It’s curious but it works !

You have to right clik/properties on the “Adobe QT32 Server.exe” into the premiere install folder (for me it is : C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Premiere Pro CS632). Then in compatibility, activate the execution using the Windows XP service pack 2. ANd i do not realy understand why but… It’s working !

    Hope it will help people

    bye
