    Hello,
I have a question about a technique what I should use to accomplish my goal.

I am willing to do an abstract animation with streaks of light being linked with strings of light (both made by fractal noise)
I would like it to simulate transfers of light from one streak or point to another one , moving from right to left , and
going from more abstract and blurred streaks to one streak of light created by one separate string..you can imagine that as a tree with loads of bunches
with light bulbs on the right , leading the light to one single stream on the left..
You can also imagine that as a randomly creating network connecting brightest areas going from more complex to less complex towards left…

So what I would like to know is, is it possibble to control by expressions behaviour or particular parameters
(according to a position within the composition ) of some effect
(I am sure it cannot be accomlished by use of blending modes and gradient)?

Has anybody any experience with some abstract plugins to after effects to simulate interactive fluids like controllable transfers ??

    Thanx in advance

I think you are approaching this completely the wrong way. First off, we live in the age of non-linear animation by means of digital power, meaning that elements must not be created and animated in the order they later appear on screen. In your case it would be simpler to start with the end actually expanding the network and then time reversing everything.

And what’s Fractal Noise? I never heard of that effect, sounds like technology from the 30th century. 😉 Well, in all honesty, why do you want to use it? You never will be able to control it the way you want, especially the part where your “streaks” are supposed to blend. A much better idea would be to create 3 to 5 variations of streaks in sub-compositions and animate them. This can be done easily using the Stroke effect (or Trapcode’s 3DStroke). It would also be easy to place them in pseudo-random patterns to form your network. You can add further variations by simply using displacement effects to change the curvature of the strokes and you can always re-time their motion using time-stretching.

From where I sit, the ultimate solution would be using Trapcode’s Particular.. You still need multiple layers/ emitters, but could easily create organic streaks by using particles with Aux particles for the streaks.
