  • RAM preview with stuck video frames – AE CS3

We have a strange bug here on several Mac Pros (running OS X 10.4.11). When creating a RAM preview in AE CS 3, videos (MOV with animation codec, and also other codecs, or even TIF sequences) in the timeline are stuck at one random frame. When scrubbing the timeline, the videos play fine. The only workaround seems to be to empty “everything” (not only the image cache) and try it again, but it only works every now and then. There also appear stuck videos when rendering the whole film to disk sometimes.

Additionally, we have a problem with audio preview (, on num block), it sometimes just doesn’t play (playhead moves but no sound). Probably this problem is related.

One Mac Pro has Nucleo Pro 2 installed. This makes no difference. Also, built-in multi-processor rendering doesn’t help. Also, we tried to change memory settings and delete the image cache while rendering using the hidden setup menu, which makes no difference.
One machine has 6 GB, the other one 2 GB of RAM, and I assume all RAMs are fully funcional.
