  RAID card benefits?

  I work on a 3.0 ghz quad Mac Pro, mainly with SD footage, though every so often HD comes my way. I currently run a 1.5 TB (3 x 500gb) internal RAID 0 set-up, with a 4th 250 gb (boot drive).

  Is there any benefit to installing the RAID card that is now offered through Apple; or is that card aimed at those with external arrays?
