    hi there,

    https://www.apple.com/nl/macosx/features/unix/
on this link there is a datasheet pdf link available, on page 8 apple claims : raid 0+1 are now available
i was able to create a raid 0+1 set
    workflow
    2x sonnet tempo e4p
8 disks put into 2 boxes so 4 disks in one box then i striped box1 then i striped box2
then i create an empty mirror raid where i put in the earlyer created box1 and box 2
voila i had a raid 0+1 so (i thought i had some redundancy) if one of the disks went “kaput” i could
keep on working 🙂 order a new disk an rebuild the raid0+1

    now the tidbit
i called apple and asked them howto (after trying for several hours) after 10 min. they told it could be done but only when using terminal. they where not able to sent me alink or tell me how this should be done using the term app.

later that day i contacted softraid (execelent response time btw) they confirmed my opinion, and told me that softraid is working on raid 0+1 feature and that i need to check with them next macworld (8-12 aug 2007) 🙁

so anyone with more info on this subject please let me know or if you know of a more appropriate forum 🙂

    cheers martijn

I would imagine its in the diskutil command in the terminal.. i would try using the manual command and check it out…

    I believe this is correct,

    man diskutil

thanks for the info. i’m a little reluctant/scared to use term app 🙂 but will try. i also heard from mike curtis from hdforindies.com (execelent site btw )that it would be more redundant to use raid 10 instead of raid 01 so first mirror 4 times 2 disks then stripe the 4 mirrors

    any thougts on that?

    cheers
