August 22, 2024 at 7:17 pmHi Kouraib,
I thought I’d let you know that the script no longer works for some reason using it now results in the same process as when I try the normal export process… ie nothing is saved and after trying several times the app freezes. I haven’t upgraded the OS, I’m still using Ventura so I don’t understand what could be interfering with the script now when it worked previously. Any ideas?
Thanks Chris

August 23, 2024 at 6:55 amHi Chris,
This maybe due to other applications being installed recently or something happening in the system but I think you could bypass this by running your program in “with administrator privileges” mode using do shell scripts in AppleScript or “sudo” command in the terminal, I have put a link below explaining how to do this.
Let me know if this works for you.

How to run an app always admin mode in Mac?
I need to run DBeaver admin mode but instead of running the app via terminal, I need to run via shortcut as admin mode. So, is it possible in Mac as in Windows?

August 23, 2024 at 12:50 pmThe strange thing is after repeated attempts I have actually managed to export a .stl to my desktop… nine times out of ten either nothing is saved or C4D crashes, but very occasionally it works. I’m not knowledgeable enough to mess with programming, I don’t understand whether you mean running the C4D app or just the script in the method in the link… or what the process means so I’m inclined not to attempt it on my own, but I do appreciate your input!

August 24, 2024 at 6:56 amIn Windows the problem that happened to you I think can be overcome by running Cinema 4D as administrator to avoid possible interference between it and the system files of any programs that you may have installed recently. The method described in the link is the equivalent of running a specific program as administrator but on a Mac. You are right to not do anything without consulting an expert so I suggest that you re-post the topic in the Apple forum you will find here those who can help you.

September 3, 2024 at 12:01 pmHi Kouraib just to let you know the script is working again! As long as I open the script manager and execute the command from there everything is fine… (however, if you use the ‘user scripts’ menu it won’t work from there).
Thanks once again for all your help. Much appreciated.

September 3, 2024 at 1:11 pmYou’re most welcome, Chris! I was very surprised the first time when you told me that the script didn’t work, but I said maybe there is something in your system that prevented that. I’m very happy for you and thank you very much for sharing with us what you get it.
