Quicktime videos dont play in Vegas 7.0

I have a client who wants me to edit their footage the video format is quictime and when i insert the file onto timelime i get 4 audio tracks but no video what can i do to get the video to playback also

It could be one of two things:

(1) You don’t have the proper codec installed for the video stream in the file. Open the video in Quicktime Player and use the Inspector (Ctrl+I) to see what codec the file uses. Then make sure that you have that codec installed.

(2) If you have the proper codec installed then it could be the Quicktime bug that was introduced with versions of Quicktime after 7.6.4. Downlevel your Quicktime to 7.6.4 or earlier and it should start working.

Of course these is a 3rd possibility that the codec they used is not available on a PC (i.e., it’s a Mac only codec) in which case you won’t be doing any editing of those files at all.
