  • Quicktime rendering dialogue hangs / VP12

Posted by Stewart Bourke on August 26, 2013 at 11:35 pm

Vp12 pro, latest version, win 7 64 bit ultimate.

Every time I go into render a quicktime video, and click the ‘customize template’ button, the standard dialogue is displayed, but it freezes for anything up to 30 seconds. After that I can change anything and work away, but it is a real pain every time I need to make some changes to the settings.

Anybody any ideas what could be causing it?

The ‘template customize’ dialogue for all of the codes works fine – no delay or ‘freezing’ once displayed.

    Thank you

Do you have the newest version of the Quicktime player installed?

    Stewart,

I have SVP10 and this same thing has happened to me from the beginning. Here’s at least what I discovered as a workaround for you so you don’t have to wait for it:

When the customize template comes up and hangs, move your cursor down to a blank area of the Windows start bar, RT-click, do “Start Task Manager”, but then just close the task manager when it comes up (don’t choose anything on it). Then you can alter whatever you want on the template.

I don’t know why that works, but it always does for me!

I have experienced this will several formats not just QuickTime. I usually just wait for the dialog to become responsive again but I agree it’s a big PITA when you’re trying to get work done.

Wondering if its GPU/OpenCL related also!

Kelly, that did it – thanks – never thought of that – hit the start button clears it up.

@Steve – I checked and I did not have the latest quicktime installed – downloaded it but it did not help.

    Thanks all for your input.

Well, glad you found a workaround for it.
