We’re having some weird issues happen, and they just started about a couple months ago. We’re running on FCP 5.1, QT 7.1.2, using DVCPRO HD 24P. When outputting we make a self contained quicktime, lay that in a sequence, and then output from that. We do this for various reasons, mostly because we found we rarely get dropouts when outputting with this method. When making the quicktime we use the same settings as in the sequence. Everything is DVCPRO HD 24P. I’ve tripled checked all of this – the sequence settings and the self contained quicktime. For some reason, we I lay this quicktime file into the sequence, it needs to be rendered. It’s takes around 20 minutes and is just killing us when we’re on a time crunch. Any thoughts? Appreciate it.

Yes, Dave. Sorry to confuse. I meant dropped frames. Even so, this really has nothing to do with why i have to render these quicktimes.

It’s none of these things. I can compare clips by simply looking at the format. Resolution, data rate, pixel aspect – it’s all the same. I trashed prefs – didn’t do anything. It’s not an audio issue, because it’s the video that needs to be rendered. I’ve tried this on all 14 of our sytems, and they all produce the same result. Thanks for suggestion though.
