quicktime reference file
Is the an option on FCP 6 to just export a quicktime reference file of the sequence? I tried to deselect the make self contained option on the export window, but it still tells me that it will take a long time to do it, so I’m guessing that it’s still compression video instead of exporting just a reference data file.

If you have not already rendered out your timeline, FCP must first create render files that your Reference Movie needs to point to. This may be what is taking time when you are exporting.
