A friend gave me some .mov video clips he captured in QuickTime HD using Final Cut Pro on an OS X system from a Sony HD camcorder. When I try to play/import the clips all I get is the audio track. I tried searching for a codec but can’t seem to find anything for Windows. I have the latest version of QuickTime 7 installed.

    Any ideas?

    THANKS!!

there are many different HD QT codec’s …

you’ll have to ask which codec they used .. did they capture HD using a SDI card ? if so maybe they used the black magic codec ? you could go over to the decklink site and download the 10bit BM ( million colors) codec ( it’s free) …

maybe they converted to QT h264? use the QT updater to install H264 ?

if it was a sony HDV camera then maybe they converted to the luminaire codec ?? which you would not be able to play …

Wish I knew. He’s out of town this weekend and I’m trying to edit this footage before Monday.

I think I have the h264 codec; QuickTime says there are no updates available. I also tried installing the Black Magic codec. I still only hear the audio and get a white screen in QuickTime. If I open the file in Vegas I get now get the audio and a bunch of moving color lines. If I rename the file to .mpg and open it in Media Player I get the same result.
