quicktime gamma shift from AE to FC
I’ve just finished a job where we delivered work in 2 separate formats: quicktimes & on digi. The problem was, when both were imported into Avid, the colours didn’t match up: the quicktimes laid off to tape via Final Cut had somehow had the gamma level ramped up.
The quicktimes were rendered from After Effects, None codec, configured colour working space, 16 bit depth project (even though None renders only millions of colours).
Final Cut sequence settings used to lay off to tape used Uncompressed 10 bit codec, YUV 10 bit colour depth, White (not Super). I’ve concluded that the gamma increase is always roughly .2
I’ve since tried using a variety of other codecs in AE & FC but haven’t managed to find the solution. Im looking to find a consistent and reliable system for laying off through FC without having to filter the gamma for every single thing that gets laid off in future.
Any ideas much appreciated
