I’ve always edited using the .AVI file format. I recently heard that Premiere is quicktime based and that QT files are more stable for editing.

Does anyone here concur with this and if so, is it possible to capture QT files in a DVPRO50 format? I’m just beginning my research into this so if I’m missing something that’s obvious to anyone who is conversant on the subject, consider me a newbe.

    Cheers.

Premiere on a PC does not like QT files well. Premiere will import many (not H264) but import times can be long and real time playback poor.
Premiere on a PC is a Microsoft DirectShow DV.avi type 2 app without additional plug-ins/hardware.
