Quicktime export has odd aliasing when imported into Pinnacle Thunder
We’ve been exporting some elements from our Avid NewsCutter using Quicktime format. These are destined for a Pinnacle Thunder, but we’ve been noticing some odd aliasing in the moving video. We finally paused the video on a scene with vertical wipes coming in from both sides, a component in which we noticed “oddness” when the clip is playing. Pauses, we see two edges for the right edge and two for the left edge. This appears to be difference in position over a given frame (two fields), and the leading edge has occupies every other scan line (as one would expect for a single field). However, the herringbone region between the two edges for eithe side of the wipe appear to have bands appearing periodiclly as you look up and down those regions, which look to be perhaps caused by some moire’ effect. I don’t know if we should be seeing that or not, but it might be a clue into what we have set incorrectly.
Does any of this sound familiar? If not, are there any known-good export settings that will get our video our in Quicktime so it can be pushed into a Thunder?
Thanks
