  • Quicktime export – changing audio codec

    Hi everyone,

I searched in this site for a solution to this question, unfortunately couldn’t find one (perhaps my searching skills aren’t great.)

I was wondering how you can change the audio codec while exporting in quicktime. I’m using a H 264 compressor, and simply doing a quicktime movie export, which gives me a linear PCM audio output. When i export it like this the file size is smaller, video quality stays at where i want it to be, and runs smoothly – however, I need a different audio codec.
I’ve used the quicktime conversion using the h264 compressor and changing the audio to AAC but the video quality gets damaged and the file size becomes far larger. I need an AAC audio output, is there anyway I can change the quicktime movie audio output??
    any help is greatly appreciated.

    I’m a little confused, but that’s normal…

I just looked at the presets in Compressor for h.264 delivery to Apple TV, and they are AAC audio … up to 256 Kbps too, might try doing that?

    Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the response. I exported it what you recommended, the video quality is fine, but it seems that the livetype text has deteriorated in quality – happens with most exports except quicktimeexport with h264…i dunno why, but again, i need aac audip, any thoughts?
