    Hi there.

I have been pulling my hair out ever since I upgraded to QT 7.3!!

    I run 10.3.9 with FCP 4.5.

Things were fine with QT7.2 , and I heard that for security reasons I should install QT7.3.

Since doing so however, I can no longer capture more than 5 minutes of video (controllable or uncontrallable), without having my system freeze, and having a massive (100 gigi plus) video file written to my scratch disc.

I have attempted to investigate via apple support, but have found no answers on how to revert back to QT 7.2 other than doing a clean install of the OS.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Justin

Did you get this through software update or some other method?

[justinheaney] “I have been pulling my hair out ever since I upgraded to QT 7.3!!”

Honestly, with FCP 4.5, I never would have updated Quicktime past v. 7.1. Makes me wonder if there is a compatibility issue with FCP 4.5 and QT 7.3.

We’re running Studio 2 here and are not allowing our system to update to anything new through Quicktime.

Here they explain how to reinstall QT. Is to resolve a diferent issue, but the process is the same.
I would fallow the advice of Walter. If QT 7.2 works well, stick with it.

If I may be so bold:
Does this QT 7.3 issue also apply to
    FCS1 and OSX 10.4.10?

    Thank you.

I tried reinstalling 7.2 but it says that I can’t because there is a newer version. I tried to uninstall by removing the 7.3 elements but I still can’t. Now I’m really screwed because I don’t have Quicktime on my computer and I can’t install 7.2 becuase it says that I do. Any Advice!
