QUICKTIME 7.3 BUG

Hi Tom

I’ve trashed the Quicktime receipts (except for the PRO & MPEG2 receipts)

I then downloaded the 7.2 version of quicktime via the link you sent.

Tried to install, and was told I had a newer version installed and cant update it.

Please help

I deleted all my receipts and I was still not able to reinstall 7.2. I have now reinstalled the operating system and reinstalled Quicktime 7.2. After doing this none of the Final Cut Studio Applications would open so I’m reinstalling them as well.

THIS STUPID LITTLE UPDATE 7.3 HAS COST ME QUITE A BIT OF TIME AND MONEY TODAY. APPLE NEEDS TO MAKE AN EASY WAY TO UNINSTALL THEIR APPLICATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

This whole thing is nightmarish for tight deadline driven workflows.
Updates need to come with major warnings

I also cannot overide 7.3 with 7.2

I updated to 7.3 on two different systems. It’s working fine.

I had one weird thing where I couldn’t add audio transitions in FCP 6. After trashing the prefs that problem went away.

I’m not saying people should update though. I did it because 7.2 was such a mess I hoped this would work better.

Unfortunately I have experienced the same problem. My FCP 5 now has a permanent green canvas which started immediately after the QT 7.3.1 download. In the past Apple has issued a QT reinstaller which essentially rolls back the player without requiring an OS reinstall when bugs became prohibitive to users. After many inquiries and calls to local technicians and finally to an apple tech, I was told that no support is available for FCP 5 and no other information or help would be issued by apple to address the problem. That I could upgrade FCP or install Leopard for the time machine feature in order to have a system restore capability. After attempting nearly all possibilities including a reinstall of FCP I am looking at a OS clean install to restore functionality. This is a very costly solution for me and not a welcome solution from Apple. Who can help?

The same has happened to me.

FCP 5 shuts down when exporting a HDV timeline using QuickTime Conversion and freezes while exporting the HDV timeline QuickTime movie.

I copied and pasted the HDV timeline to SD and after a 14 HOUR RENDER (what the hell???) was able to successfully use QuickTime Conversion.

Still can’t do any kind of exporting of the HD timeline and the green canvas is getting very irritating.

Stupid QuickTime.
WHY???????
