I have a job to shoot a three hour presentation and have a file ready for the web the next morning and want to know the fastest set up on the EX3 and in FCP to do this and maintain decent quality. I’m a bit worried about how long this will take to render. The final file will be will roughly be a Quicktime Conversion/Broadband medium export. Thanks in advance.

That’s raw processing power. A Mac Pro could easily power through it in maybe an hour or two. Laptop- more like an overnight render. IF it’s just the raw dailies I’d shoot it through compressor. Definitely would not do a multipass encode- that will take forever.

If the end result is H.264 for the web Matrox MXO2mini with MAX (laptop or desktop) or Matrox CompressHD (desktop). If your runtime is 3 hours then the encode will be 3 hours or faster depending on settings and host machine.
