Quick simple poster job

Hi chaps, I was a very active member when working 10 years ago, retired now but as ever someone has asked me to make them a flyer, the simplest job in the world, back in the day I would have sorted it in 10 minutes with photoshop but, of course, I don’t have it any more … I don’t want to spend money doing someone a favour so does anyone know of a free alternative to p/shop, I want to have a couple of layers, add some text, stretch an image, really basic stuff. thanks

There’s always GIMP (GIMP – GNU Image Manipulation Program). It’s been a long while since I used it, but it has the capabilities you’re after, per your post.
