quick question – rendering to PAL

I had a similar issue recently. Vegas does an incredible job of handling all the necessary conversions automatically. Unless you have very specific reasons to (and there rarely are) leave all the options alone – let Vegas figure it out. I recently had a project where NTSC, PAL, wide-screen and standard 4:3 were mixed. Once I selected the widescreen template (as you are suggesting) I let Vegas handle all the conversions – and it did it perfectly.

You may need to do some cropping – go into the ‘pan/crop’ on the event and select ‘match output aspect’ – then make any edits as appropriate.

Use the DVD Architect PAL Widescreen template. This will produce a file that is DVD compliant. Also render your audio separately as Dolby Digital AC3. Give both files the same name (just with different extensions)

Stewart is correct. Let Vegas handle it. There is no problem with the filed order being different. Vegas will happily flip them for you so that your DVD player finds the filed order it is expecting regardless of the filed order of the original camera.
