Quick Question: Photoshop Mask
I have globes, that I’ve photoshopped that have ridges, curves, and other shapes. I want my video in After Effects to be masked to exactly that photoshopped shape, how would I go about achieving this sort of mask in After Effects?
I thought I could do a mask where I just brought the shape over my video and then mask it like in Photoshop or Illustrator, but not the case? Thanks

if your photoshop file has transparency (ie, no background.. you can see the checkerboard pattern around it in ps) and you import it, merging layers or as a comp. then you should be able to place that file (or comp) above the layer (or comp or footage) that you want to mask. then select the layer to be masked, and from the pulldown under trkmat in the modes column (if you can’t see the modes column, click the button at the bottom of the timeline that looks like a circle and a square), select alpha matte “name-of-layer-above”.
