    Hello to all,

I haven’t used quick mask mode in months and have forgotten the steps to create an image with an alpha channel which will be imported into Final Cut Pro. I have a still image of a scroll with a background. I need to see ONLY the scroll in Final Cut Pro so the scroll will show on top of my video image. How do I mask out the background in Photoshop 7 so when I import into Final Cut Pro I will see only the scroll?

    HELP? 🙂

    Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Generally you want to select the area that you want to use in FCP. (use the magic wand/lasso tool/or whatever selection tool you like best) and cut out the rest of the picture. You can use quick mask to “paint” out the area you want to select.
Go to the select menu and choose save selection)
You need not name and hit save. It will automatically save it as an alpha channel.

You might need to flatten the image before you import it into FCP.
