    Hi All,

I’m sort of new to AE and I’m wondering. Is there a way to copy all of the attributes from one layer (postion, scale, effects, masks ect) from one layer to a new layer. I’m looking for a method that is like the “Copy/Paste layer attributes” that you can do with a photoshop layer.

    Thanks,

    ~ D

Select the properties you want to copy and use cmd+c (or control+c on PC) to copy, then select the layer you want to apply them to and press cmd+v (or control+v on PC) to paste. If there are keyframes on the property this will paste the first copied keyframe at the current time indicator.

An alternative method, if you wanted to ‘copy’ all of the layers attributes, would be to duplicate the layer in your composition (cmd+d/ctrl+d), select the duplicate, then drag the footage you want as your new layer from your project pane to the timeline while holding option (or alt on PC).

Here are some other helpful hints:

-To reveal animating properties on a layer, select it and press ‘u’
-To reveal changed properties on a layer, select it and press ‘uu’
-To reveal the position property press ‘p’
-To reveal the opacity property press ‘t’
-To reveal the rotation property press ‘r’
-To reveal the scale property press ‘s’
-To reveal effects on the layer press ‘e’
-To reveal masks on the layer press ‘m’
