  • Quick editing effects question in Sony Vegas

I do alot of music videos so alot of cutting and splitting of about 5 clips. My question is after doing all the cutting and splitting and transitions I go to editing and I usually edit the whole track because all the lighting is the same for the clips according the track but sometime I find some clips may need to be a little darker or lighter so I need to edit them, but since everything is cut and split up I have many little clips everywhere so is there a way I can edit one and have all the rest that came from the same clip to change as well or do I have to do all of them manually?

You can select one of the clips and right click and choose “Select in Project Media list” Now right click that media and choose “Media FX…” This will apply the FX to the media that you split into multiple events on the timeline. If you do not want to do the whole media file, then I have seen some people create another track and just move the events to the other track where you apply a track FX.

There is also an option to paste event attributes to multiple events from one source event.

Everything on the timeline is an event – not a clip.
But Mark is correct, make your F/X adjustments in the Project Media and it will remain on every event created from that media clip. (It’s a clip in Project Media because there’s only one copy. You can have many events on the timeline from that one media clip. See the difference?)
