Questions regarding using RAID and separate Cache disk
Hi. I’m planning to be editing some HD footage on my new Mac Pro. I have installed 5 hard drives. The fifth one is installed underneath the optical drive, and number 1 – 4 are installed in the bays, running with a Mac Hardware Raid card.
I am planning on running like this:
Bay 1: System Disk OSX (not RAIDED)
Bay 2 – 4: Video footage disks (RAID 0 or RAID 5)
Fifth drive: Cache disk for photoshop and FCP and After EffectsMy question is regarding the Cache disk. Is it a good idea to run like I’ve set it up? Or would it be better to put OSX on the fifth drive (under the optical bay), and then run all the bay-drives in RAID 0 or RAID 5 with both video footage AND cache on this raid-array?
In short: Will the cache disk run better as a standalone or on a raid-array sharing with video footage files.
