Questions about Vegas 15 & Architect
I’ve tried to read everything at the Magix Website, but they don’t get this far into the details. I’m shooting 4k, and rendering to HEVC. However Architect 7 doesn’t support burning HEVC discs. I’m wondering if either Vegas 15 or the version of Architect that they are selling (is it 7 or 8?) supports HEVC discs.
They also mention that rendering will in many cases will be faster. Right now in Vegas 14 rendering HEVC is like 1999 all over again. Like about 1 or 2 fps. There doesn’t appear to be any GPU support. When I render 4k in MP4, it’s pretty obvious the GPU is involved because the renders proceed along at 20-30fps. Anybody know anymore details about this?

It is my understanding that no consumer software does now, nor ever will support burning Ultra HD (HEVC/H.265) Blu-ray Discs (if this is what you are asking about) because Hollywood Studios won’t allow it! The software is extreme expensive on the order of thousands of dollars (see https://www.scenarist.com or https://www.dvd-logic.com/kite/) and you must be a member of the Blu-ray Disc Association just to buy it!
In short, Hollywood doesn’t want consumers to be able to make these discs so don’t hold your breath for support from anyone. They won’t even allow most PC’s to play them back due to their copy protection scheme. It looks like consumer HEVC is going to be a file based media server delivery format only.

DVD architect is quite old, and does not yet (maybe never) support UHD disk authoring. So no HEVC. You could make a “data” disk with HEVC files on it, but that probably isn’t what you want.
HEVC rendering is slower the h264 in general, and the Intel HEVC in Vegas only uses QSV on intel CPU’s for performance enhancement.
