    Hello,

I’m trying to work on this map of Africa. I imported an Illustrator map with all the countries, and organized them, animated it, and then added the border look I wanted with Cel Renderer. The animation and look of the borders is pretty much how I want it, that’s not the problem.

I don’t know if banding lines is the correct terminology, but that’s what I’m concerned about, as llustrated by where the arrows are pointing here. (and in several non-arrow places, but you get the point…)

I don’t think it’s a render thing, because I can see them in the project when it’s unrendered. I’m really clueless at figuring out issues like these, so if anyone knows what is causing this, I would appreciate it greatly.

Also, in terms of the edges of the map, is there a reason they look so serrated? Is there a way to smooth that out? Or is that just how it is because of the illustrator file I was working off of?

Here is a link to download my project if you wanted to look around (203kb):

I really appreciate any help I can get here, I’m sort of at a standstill with this graphic until I can get this figured out.

I’m working in C4D 11.5, by the way.

    Thanks!
    Scott

Nevermind, found out the artifacting (not banding, wrong word) problem is the caps not being quadrangles with low width.

And I think the edges problem is in the original Illustrator map document.

If you happened to look at it, thanks anyway!

I did look at it, the real problem is the splines. In 3D terms there are errors that would have to be fixed to make it better but you are right, Regular Grid with a small value works if you never zoom too close on the edges of the countries.
