  • Question to anyone with a Canon xh a1

Hi, so to start I recently purchased the Canon XH A1 and just started working with it’s HDV power. Recently I agreed to to a recording for a friend and now need to make copies of the work. I shot in HDV at 24f, and now I want to take advantage of the in camera down conversion. Problem is I can’t seem to find a way to retain both 24f and the correct aspect ratio. In easy setup I can only find DV NTSC 48 kHz(23.98) or DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic. for both time line and capturing preset. Is their some way of mixing and matching the presets?

You shot in HDV so you can’t use a DV setting to capture your footage. You need to use an HDV easy setup. In Easy Setup, make sure your format is HD, choose the 23.98 fps Rate, and select one of the Setups in the Use dropdown box.

first off, thanks for the responce. Second, do you have a Canon Xh A1? Or know how “in camera” options for down conversion work with FCP? I guess that’s the real reason I posted this question. I have been extremely busy lately, and would have just used trial and error for the various setups, but I wanted to better understand my camera’s functions. I couldn’t find any threads on this specific subject.
