I showed someone a project that I had finished the other day which was made up 100% from stills, all of which were a minimum of 4 mega pixels. I was asked could I also render this out as a HD project.

I have never even looked at or considered doing a HD project since I had neither camera or player. What is the best site to read up about HD video? I’m guessing that I could render this project in HD. Whether or not I could burn it to a standard DVD I’m uncertain off. If it would work I’ll try it as a test project just to see what it looks like on my friends HD LCD screen. What about file size would it be say 5 times that of the same standard done in MPEG2? Any other things to consider?

    Thanks in advance

“I was asked could I also render this out as a HD project.”
Yes you can, it will look good.

“Whether or not I could burn it to a standard DVD I’m uncertain of.”
No to this one. That is why we are all waiting on good afforable HD-DVD
or Blue-Ray Gear (designed for HD Video).

I will let some of the other guys explore your options to deliver HD
    content.

    Regards…Rick.

I doubt that my monitor is large enough to see any benefit in quality. The same would be true with creating an MPEG4 file. I know that I can burn & play STD MPEG4 play them OK on my stand alone DVD player. Can any DVD player with MPEG4 playback capability for standard definition also be of able to handle HD playback.

    Thanks in advance

Not sure if this is what you are looking for. The only way I know of to play HD content on a set-top player is to go with a HD-DIVX Player (excluding DVD-HD and BlueRay). HD_DIVX is able to go 1280 X 720 resolution to standard DVD disk and burner. Here is a link to some HD-DIVX Players.
The DIVX Codec and DVD Creation Bundle price will not break the bank.

    https://www.divx.com/products/hw/browse.php?c=7

    Hope this helps.

If anyone out there knows a better way, chime in.

    Later, Rick.
