i know many of you are familiar with this tutorial. my question is, can it be done with in completely within AE 6.5 Pro? or do you still have to use illustrator?

Signatures can be done by using AE’s pen tool to draw open masks that match the signature. Next, you apply the render>stroke effect, set to “all masks” and “stroke sequentially”. To make it write on, you animate the stroke’s end value.

    There you go.

Thanks alot steve! and one thing i discovered myself if anyone else uses thing effect, in the effects controls for “effects > render > stroke” is that the “paint style” parameter needs to be set to reveal orignial image or else it just paints a colored line over your text. Thanks again steve!

No, I run my own little thing. But I have met Tim Martin at Framblender. Nice fellow.
