we just got our hand on the new HPX2100 demo camera to try out. All the while we are Sony user and shoot in DVCAM only (D50 with DSR-1).

We try to connect the video out in SD composite mode to the Sony production monitor (as the monotor doesn’t have SD SDI input and we DONT have HD monitor yet) and find that the color is a bit washed out as compared to the D50. the camera is literally out of the box (I unpack and assemble the pieces myself from the boxes)and the menu settings is directly from the factory. We didn’t do any adjustment to the gamma or matrix.

My question is: do i have a problem in monitoring the footages shot (coz I downrezing and do the viewing through a SD monitor in composite mode) or I have to adjust the gamma and Matrix to my liking?

    Thanks

Do not adjust anything yet,Panasonic Factory Preset camera setting should be fine.
First, try to see HD picture on HD Monitor with HDSDI inputs(if possible CRT one).Composite signal is always not sharp and “washed out”. You really should invest in some sort of Decent HD monitor with HDSDI interface since You have nice camera like Pana 2100.
