  • Question for Walter and anyone working in atl gwinnett area

I have been trying to find actors and aspiring actors to be my virtual tour guide/spokesperson for my company. I live in Dacula, Ga so I am not looking for anyone in the atl area b/c of the distance.

I have had zero look in finding anybody. I have tried the Actor’s Scene in Buford, myspace, co-workers at my job, craigslist, no luck. I have not tried any local colleges, but I do not know if that will work either.

Where do you guys go to find talent located in Gwinnett County? Here is my ad. Can you guys let me know if my ad maybe the problem. Thanks.

Is there a theater in your area? I bet there is. Not a movie theater, a real theater, where they stage plays. As in, with real actors. I know small villages here in deep south Louisiana that have theaters like this. I’d assume there’d have to be something close to you. There’s got to be somebody.

http://www.atlantafilms.com is one place to start. A lot of actors on there and they generally feed out your listings to other boards.

Houghten Talent Agency is awesome too.

Personally, I usually post on AtlantaFilms.com and let all the actors distribute the information for me. I had about 28 women show up to audition for our short film two years ago and that shocked us, we expected 1 or 2.

    Try Craigslist Atlanta.

Here in Los Angeles production companies rely on CL for lots of people and personnel. When posting for an unpaid intern recently, I received 160 replies to my ad.

I tried Craigslist. No luck at all.

[edr] “I tried Craigslist. No luck at all.”

yeah, I’m not a big fan of that anyway. Too many “waste of time” type of people to sift through. A site like AtlantaFilms is generally connected to folks who will not waste your time.

I think your ad, while truthful as it might be, may shy someone away becuase your trying to contact talent directly. Any Model/Actor that is any good, or smart, knows to go through an agency for work. The agency can help you pick the talent since they usually have head shots of everyone they represent. The agency also helps screen bozos and pornographers away from the people who are legitimate and looking for good talent. Going through an agency is more comfortable for both you and the talent. I highly recommend it.
