Question for the XENA pros : Capture using HD-SDI for an HD .avi file…
Me and a few buddies are wondering something about the XENA card for PC users……
OK, say for instance you buy the new AJA XENA card to capture footage shot with a Canon XL-H1 in 24F HD mode.
You wish to capture it using HD-SDI, with analog audio connected & Lanc to RS422 for deck control and timecode embedding.THE QUESTION:
Using the XENA cards on a PC, can you choose any Codec that is installed on your computer to capture directly to? More specifically, any “AVI” codec installed on your computer. To get to the point, we want to know if you can capture directly to the “SHEER” codec ( https://www.bitjazz.com/sheervideo ) using the AJA XENA cards. But ofcourse we want to also know if you can capture directly to other codecs as well. What are the limitations as far as codecs go with the AJA XENA’s?P.S.
We already know 24F footage will come in as “24Pover60Iwith3:2pulldown” and we will need to do a reverse pulldown to get a final 23.976fps file. I suppose we can use After Effects to do this. Or there may be other programs out there that will do it. My question is more about the codecs the XENA card can capture with….._______________________
