  • question about Scenalyzer live – Help Files????

Posted by Wayne Grauel on December 28, 2005 at 12:06 pm

Upon the opinions of others here, I have purchased Scenalyzer live. It certainly does work well with my Sony DSR 30 Deck – Something which Vegas does Not!.

However, the only luck i have had with Scenalyzer was capturing an entire tape at once.

I have looked all over the site and emailed them for some help on batch digitizing – no answers at all.. it has been a month at least. According to their brief FAQ, you just create a tape index and then put a check mark at each scene….

That’s all great except they don’t really cover that in any degree of depth either. I’ve hit the little tab to create a tape index and here again, I’m looking at the screen wondering OK… now what?

Perhaps I have really missed something here, or are their actually some help files somewhere?

The only real info I can find on the web site is informatin telling me what the program will do – but not how to do it!

Those of you who have sucessfully used the program ( to its full potential) – how on earth did you figure this thing out?

I use SCLive all the time. I don’t use the batch capture much but I have used it. When batch capturing, you should see the clips appearing on the screen as they are “captured”. The VCR should start and run at high speed forward, then an “index” clip will appear in the main part of the screen (where the captured clips are normally shown), then progressively, each individual clip will appear under the “batch” clip. Next to each of these clips will be a check box. After you have run the batch capture, you check the clips that you “really” want captured, then click on capture again. I am not at my video editing PC so I am recounting this from memory. Maybe you have to play around with the settings first. The “virtual” clips will appear not to be cleanly cut from one clip to the next – but thats OK – the final capture will be correct.

Andreas Winter from Scenalyzer just this minute sent me a very fast reply to a web inquiry .

they have just finished a help manual which i am downloading now.

I’m sure they will be posting it soon, but if you have the same questions, email them.

it was not a web link, or I would provide it, however they sent me a 1.2 meg PDF help file.

(i’m on dial up and still waiting!!!! :>)

Thank you all, Happy new Year!

Looking all over the Scenalyzer site, I was unable to find any links to a manual. Can you give more info on where it is?

I do agree with some things you said. For example, I’d like to be able to just type in a start and end timecode for batch capturing. After I’ve previewed the tapes, I KNOW the sections I want. I’d just like to type them in instead of having to “scan” the tape and then combine many “scenes” into a single capture entry, etc…

    Ed,

As far as I know, the manual is just completed and not posted yet. Is there any way to provide it here on creative cow so people could download it? All i have is a 1.2 meg PDF file that was emailed directly from Andreas.

I have not had time to go through it but it has to be a huge improvement over the “point and shoot” method of trying to figure out how to use a software application.

Let me know how to help.

There’s also a new version dated 12/28/2005! The version when I looked yesterday was still on 09/27/2005.
