April 28, 2006 at 5:08 pmthis will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER happen, unless Blackmagic is purchased by AVID. AVID has ABSOLUTLELY NO INTEREST in having third party support cards working with Media Composer software. This applies to AJA, Matrox, and everyone else too.
AVID has the new Mojo SDI out now for about $2000 – but it ain’t no Multibridge Extreme !
The ONLY option you have is to use the new Matrox MXO via the DVI port on your MAC, but this would be for output only , and you could never input anything into the AVID other than the firewire port.
Any rumors you are hearing are total nonsense.

Bob is totally correct in his statements. He assumed you had heard some rumors, because nothing on the avid website states MC works with or ever will work with third party hardware like BMD.
is not a rumors as you can see on avid site
https://www.avid.com/products/media-Composer/editor/index.aspThe Avid website clearly states MC software will only work with Avid Hardware or firewrie, which is stated very clearly in the link you posted for the Avid website. So the only choices for MC software are Firewire, MOJO, Adrenaline, and Adrenaline with Avid DNxcel.Like Bob said the only way this would change is if Avid was to buy BMD and add it to their line-up, which I just don’t see ever happening.

I went to your link at the AVID site – you are trying to convince yourself of something that does not exist – sorry.Want FCP – buy the Blackmagic products – want an equivalent cheap AVID solution – buy the new Mojo SDI. The ONLY way to avoid the AVID Mojo SDI (or Adrenaline) is the Matrox MXO – and this is for OUTPUT ONLY – there is no way to input other than firewire if you use this solution.
