Quality problem Photoshop
Posted by Joe Salter on February 15, 2023 at 12:20 pmHi, I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I’m having.
I would like to edit a illustrator photo in Photoshop and then import it back to illustrator.
However when I import the photo from illustrator to Photoshop it massively looses quality.
How do I retain the same quality?Biju Toha replied 3 years, 3 months ago 3 Members · 3 Replies -

March 17, 2023 at 1:48 pmAn image gets rasterized, or turned into a grid of pixels, when it is imported from Illustrator to Photoshop. This can result in quality loss, particularly if the image is resized up or down.
The steps below can be used to maintain the same quality while modifying an Illustrator image in Photoshop:
By selecting the file under File > Open in Photoshop, the Illustrator file may be opened.
Make sure the Illustrator file’s resolution and the Photoshop document’s resolution are the same. Go to Object > Image Trace > Tracing Settings to determine the Illustrator file’s resolution.
In Photoshop, adjust the image as necessary.
Save the edited file as a Photoshop file once you’re done.
Choose the saved.psd file under File > Place to import the updated Photoshop file back into Illustrator. By doing this, the image will be imported as a Smart Object, enabling quality-preserving image resizing and manipulation.
You should be able to maintain the Illustrator image’s
Thanks

March 28, 2023 at 9:10 amTo retain the same quality when importing an Illustrator photo to Photoshop, use the menu File>Place embedded or link the SVG or AI file. The Smart Object layer object will be a smart vector object, not an ordinary bright object scaled via interpolation. Photoshop does not support some files as well as possible.
Alternatively, you can import all paths to Illustrator (but no pixels) by choosing File> Export > Paths To Illustrator. Choose a location for the exported course and enter a filename. Ensure Work Path is selected from the Path menu to ship the path. Click Save. Open the File in Adobe Illustrator.
Another option is to copy the selection in Photoshop and paste it into Illustrator. If a layer mask is active when you choose the Copy command, Photoshop copies the front rather than the primary layer. Select the Move tool in Photoshop, and drag the selection to Illustrator. Illustrator fills transparent pixels with white. How to import artwork from Photoshop to Illustrator (adobe.com)
