  • Quality loss when converting 720p/25pn to DV in camera?

    Hi

I am going to shoot a short for three days mostly on Mini-DV Mode with the HVX200. But I also want to use the cool slowmo of shooting 720p/25pn with 50fr/sec. I allready tested the in-camera downconversion from the P2 Cards to Mini-DV and thought it looked very good. My question: Is there a known quality loss when going this “in-camera” way? Is the quality any worse then shooting native DV? Are there any alternatives I should consider. I am shooting in PAL by the way.
I think the footage looks good but I onyl checked on a 14″ monitor and wanted to be sure there are no quality issues. Again I am ok with DV Quality for this one. But not less than that.

    Thanks
    Richard

Whoa- this is DV day isn’t it? The downconverts look as great as any standard DV camera. That said, you can always shoot on tape for everything DV and then simply 720p for your slowmo shots if you wanted to.
