  • quad channel vs dual channel ? 2GB vs 4GB?

My company is in the early stages of planning a SAN network solution. We will have 2 primary edit stations as well as about 4 other workstations connected to this network. Our new space is being built out as we speak and cable is about to be ordered and distributed.

While initially we wont have all of the workstations up and running on the SAN, we want the cable to be in place for when that happens. This raises the question…for each workstation, what is the advantage/need for a quad channel card vs dual? And how about 2GB vs 4GB cards?

I basicly need to know what kind of fiber channel cable we should be getting to make these cable runs. The longest distance run would be less than 150 ft.

    And a follow up question….

Would each of these workstations have a single fibre channel run that connects them to the switcher? Or are there two fiber channel runs?

Again…just trying to figure out how much cable/what kind of cable to get for this.

    thanks.
