Qt player problems
Posted by James Ander on May 15, 2008 at 8:02 pmHi everybody
I have a problem with playing HD mov files on my g5. I am opening them up in QT player but it won’t show. I don’t have FCP installed and I know that it’s captured in FCP. anyone have any idea abut codec downloads or something like that?

May 15, 2008 at 8:06 pmIt’s likely that the files are compressed as DVCPROHD or ProRes. Maybe even a form of HDV or XDCAM. May of these codecs only come with FCP, so if you don’t have it installed, you can’t play the file.
If you open the file in QT and get info about the file, it should say the codec that it was compressed as, even if you don’t have the codec. So, what does it say by the video section of get info?

May 15, 2008 at 8:58 pmThis is what is says
DVCPRO HD 720p60, 960 x 720 (1248 x 702), Millions
that’s the only thing, not codec and not required codec.

May 15, 2008 at 9:08 pmWell the only way to get access to the DVCPROHD codec is by installing software like FCP that has the codec. It’s not publicly available.
